Stuffed animal toys have been quite a popular children’s toy throughout history. A stuffed animal toy is one of the most popular toys, which can be quite adored by children and adults around the world. A stuffed animal could represent any animal; these animals include lions, bears, pandas, birds, penguins, dogs, cats and many more others, the list goes on and on. One of the most all time popular stuffed animal toys is the teddy bear. A teddy bear is a stuffed bear; this bear is often stuffed with cotton, and is usually covered with alpaca, sheep, or dog fur, which can give the teddy bear quite smooth and realistic coat.

The name “teddy” comes from the late president of the United States; Theodore Roosevelt. It started when he went on a hunting trip, and his suite of attendants cornered and tied up a black bear. His group of attendants called him onto the site where they had captured the black bear. Once the late president got there, his suite of attendants asked him to shoot the bear. However, he refused to shoot that bear, deeming that shooting an incapacitated bear is unsportsmanlike. This topic became a political cartoon in the Washington Post. This cartoon inspired the invention of the teddy bear. Stuffed toys are also a popular collector’s item. People who collect stuffed toys are known to have stuffed toys of all shapes, sizes and colors.

Stuffed toys are usually commercially massed produced in the United States and the European Union. There are some tough regulations that the manufacturer is obligated to follow in order to manufacture stuffed toys. These regulations state that the head, arms and legs of the stuffed animal have to be safely joined together to prevent seam separation, since kids can get quite rough with stuffed toys, the manufacturers have to ensure that their stuffed toys can stand a good beating from children. Secondly, the eyes have to be securely fastened onto the head, because they can be a choking hazard for toddlers and small children. Lately, some manufacturers have become more environmentally conscious and are now looking for ways to manufacture stuffed toys made entirely of recycled material. Making stuffed animals from recycled material will not only save the manufacturer money, but is also good for the environment; in addition, it can elevate the manufacturer’s reputation as an environmentally conscious company.

Keep in mind, buying a stuffed animal made from recycled material is the right thing to do, even if one has to shell out a bit more money to purchase it.
